Transformation

🍒 Skinny does not mean healthy.

🍑 I had an A-cup, concave, and extended lower back type of booty = small booty problems

💃🏻 I was an obsessive gal dancing hours everyday = cardio only focused

🥖 Burned far more calories than consumed. Paid attention to nutrition, only if it fueled my next dance = carbs

😴 Slept just enough to function = inadequate rest and recovery

🤸🏼 I was laser focused on dance = unbalanced

🤧 I injured my neck regularly because something as simple as sneezing would tweak it = weak

MISPERCEPTION. Let’s talk about it too 🗣

🍒 Active does not mean strong

🆘 I could dance 8-12 hours straight and still want more, but required help to lift a small box. Also, I’d penguin walk grocery bags from car to house = cardio-healthy but weak in strength. Unknowledgeable about proper form preventing injury.

The beauty of transformation is also recognizing the challenges of people who are naturally slim-built. Common among Asians.

“Ugh, that’s stupid. Eat whatever you want. You’re lucky to have that problem. Just eat more.”

I’ve heard this statement since I was a kid. I realized people don’t understand or don’t WANT TO understand “skinny people problems”. (queue eye rolls 🙄)

Skinny does not mean healthy! And, insecurities about the body do exist.

I’ve eaten fast food and junk food almost every meal, drank a ridiculous amount of alcohol, slept less than a handful of hours, created goals to become healthy, and I, too, made up every excuse in the book as to why I did not have the time to achieve them.

My body hurt. Lethargic, heartburn, (incoming TMI) irregular bowel movements, panic attacks, depression, health scares, and my physical appearance reflected how unhealthy I truly was. Skinny-framed with folds of belly fat muffin topping out of my jeans.

Skinny, overweight, or even somewhere in the middle, the road to health will be different for everyone. But, the discomfort of change and challenge to improve are the same.

It’s true. You are what you eat. Your body will give energy when fueled right and flag 🚩 you down when something isn’t right.

The body is a temple. Your home. 🏡 Take care of it. Nourish it well and it will care for your mind and body right back.

Rediscovering my passion for dance opened the door to health in many ways. Stronger, more confident, motivated, and mindful about the choices that will affect who and where I want to be next. 📚

The best decision I ever made was making the choice to become serious about health and wellness. Understand it. Create balance.

Now it’s your turn!

I invest time to learn and help others become healthier, more informed, happier, confident (and let’s be real, to look good!), and fulfilled while embracing each person’s unique differences. 💓
