Crazy last week. Tiresome weekend. Bumpy morning. Rough Monday. And just when you think you’re back to smooth sailing, you’re hit with another wave.
Rough days – we all have them. Some days don’t go quite as planned, the unexpected happens, and you’re faced with the inconvenience.
Last week I had the pleasure of getting my car booted. Embarrassing? Kinda. Frustrating? Hell yes. It happened right after dance class. Walked to my car and I had a fashionable SFMTA boot and huge flyer on my windshield promoting to the world my failure as a responsible human.

To be honest, I had no idea these many tickets were filed on my plate. Oh well. Shit happens.
Fortunately, I am surrounded by supportive people with big hearts who care about my well-being and general sanity. Ya’ll know who you are. #alllove
Monday was my perfect storm.
Goal of the day: Get my car. No matter what.
Won’t get into too much detail. But sharing my day, the challenges, and how I persevered through the BS –
- Challenge: Need to get off early
- Solution: Get to work earlier. Done.
- Challenge: No babysitter
- Solution: Last resort. Took her with me to work / Arrange pick up. Done.

- Challenge: Car-less
- Solution: Bart and my legs (a.k.a. walking). Done.
- Challenge: Bank customer service. Misinformation provided and limited options.
- Solution: Don’t be fooled by misinformation, take no for answer, and don’t accept their options as the only option. Make up your own. Get it done.

- Challenge: Unexpected influx of work “fires”
- Solution: Problem “surf” 😏, ride the wave, and keep it movin’ one wave at a time. Done.
- Challenge: 7pm before they tow car = more $$$
- Solution: Call SFMTA, pay, haul ass and get back to the city, pick up car. Done.

- Challenge: Tire slightly deflated from boot. Not confident in pumping air in my own tire.
- Solution: Figure it out. Do it anyway. Done.

- Challenge: Can I still dance today?
- Solution: If it means the world to you, yes. (Changes to dance outfit. Transforms to superwoman.) Done. (Video on my IG)
- Challenge: Do I have time to write?
- Solution: If it means the world to you, yes. Done.
- Challenge: Say goodnight to Aerial.
- Solution: It’s not a challenge. Done.
First things first. Reframe your mindset. These rough days aren’t problems. They are challenges. Challenges you can overcome. You only suffer if you choose to do nothing and let those waves crash on you. Grab a board, learn to surf, and ride that wave.
If you haven’t exhausted all your options (and then some!) then, you haven’t tried hard enough.
Second. “Start your day with a grateful heart” and recognize the abundance in your life. Some people would be supremely happy with a 1/4th of the blessings in your life.
I have 24 hours. WE have 24 hours in a day. Know the only limitations you have are the ones you place upon yourself. Keep pushing beyond your limits, even when you feel absolutely defeated or tired. Make those 24 hours count. Sob like a baby, bitch it out for a few minutes if you need to, but make sure to get yourself back up and do something about it. Keep it positive. Keep riding and keep it moving. Find a way to make each day, your day – fucking incredible. #YOLO for real 💯
LESSON: Pay your tickets. 😂 #reallife
