HEIDI KIM
San Francisco, CA – Nob Hill
Cardio Hip-hop
*Sub-instructor only – Not scheduled consistently
Dance Style:
- Love, love, love her dance style. Not only do I leave glistening in sweat but also the choreography is fun!
- Especially if you are from the Bay Area and love “Bay” artists/music (ie. E-40), you will recognize and appreciate her style.
- Vibe is best described as “Bay Area swag”. Meaning, sexy and cool confidence portrayed when dancing. It’s a super sassy style combined with hard hitting, powerful, sexy, and swag (“brushing your shoulders”, ain’t no thang”, or “I got this”) that conveys effortless movements and personality in the dance.
“When a body moves, it’s the most revealing thing. Dance for me a minute, and I’ll tell you who you are.” – Mikhail Baryshnikov
Experience Level: Recommended for experienced beginners to intermediate.
- Although open to all levels, I recommend her class for those who may have previously taken a dance fitness class. Her cardio can get your heart pumping and if you want to dance all out with personality and all, you can practice first with my recommended beginner classes.
- For truly new beginners, still feel empowered to try her class! It’s well worth it especially when she suddenly pops up on the schedule. Heidi checks in with the class, encourages questions, and ensures the class understands the movements. So she will repeat as many times as necessary.
Music:
- Bay Area music
- Hip-hop / Rap
- 90’s
Size of Class:
- Sub-instructor – So, when Heidi ends up subbing for a class, it can feel like 20-30 people. However, if she was regularly scheduled, I imagine her class initially filling up closer to 25-35.
Waitlist:
- Never needed a waitlist since she is currently a sub-instructor.
Attendance:
- Arrives early and will greet clients as a group at the start of class.
Video Recording:
- Unfortunately I have never had the opportunity to do a video with Heidi…yet. I only recorded during the class as she taught, and she seemed totally ok with that. If you are interested in recording with her, ask. With her vibe, I can sense she would be open to joining with you and/or your friends.
Why I’m addicted:
- I’m biased. Since I’m originally from the Bay Area, I recognize and appreciate the music and style. She did a “Hyphy” themed class where you let loose, go hard, and get a little crazy… oh and sweaty.
- My first class with Heidi was when she did a themed 90’s class where she blasted old school beats and choreographed it with 90’s movements. Loved! Bring this theme back!
- Cardio – Most of the uforia dance classes I leave with a sweat. But with Heidi’s class, I am guaranteed to be dripping in it. I hardly recognize the actual workout and the fact that I’m dripping sweating because the class is so much fun.
Cons:
- Not a regularly scheduled Rockstar!
Recommendation:
- If you ever see Heidi’s name suddenly pop up as a sub-instructor on the schedule, book her!
- Recommendation more to uforia and to Heidi – Bring back your themed 90’s class please!
